Mr. Collins began his career in accounting with a local firm in 1974. In this capacity, he was responsible for accounting, auditing and tax compliance for a variety of businesses, industries and individuals. He joined AVZ in 1977 and was admitted as a shareholder in 1981.
Michael Collins is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants and the Financial Planning Association.
He works on a variety of accounting and auditing engagements including construction contractors, manufacturers, service companies, high technology start-ups, and wholesalers/distributors. Mr. Collins assists clients with financial projections, business valuations and plans, accounting systems and controls. In connection to AVZ's Wealth Management entity, Mr. Collins has obtained his Certified Financial Planner designation and his securities and insurance licenses. Mr. Collins is a registered representative who has passed the FINRA series 7 and NASAA series 66 exams. He also holds a New York State Life and Health Insurance License.
Mr. Collins is a past member of the Board of Governors for Good Samaritan Hospital and Audit Committee, past member of the Board and Treasurer of Southward Ho Country Club, past member of the Board of Our Lady of Consolation, member of the Luncheon Committee for the Outreach Project, member of the Risk Management Association and is actively involved in the Long Island Association, Long Island Contractors Association, Long Island Forum for Technology, and the Hauppauge Industrial Association.
