Mr. Petersen began his career in public accounting with a small Long Island-based firm. He joined AVZ in September 2006 promoted to supervisor in 2009 and to manager in 2012. Mr. Petersen is an accounting and auditing manager with over 10 years of industry experience. He is involved in the planning and supervision of various auditing and review engagements. His clients include various local municipalities, public benefit agencies, non-profit organizations, construction contractors and small businesses. He assists his clients with accounting systems and controls, budgeting and planning and guides them through the compliance requirements of Federal, State and other regulatory agencies, including Public Authority Accountability Act.

Mr. Petersen holds a Bachelor/Masters of Science in Accounting from Southampton College, Southampton, NY. Mr. Petersen's professional affiliations include the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants (NYSSCPA), Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE) and The New York State Association of School Business Officials (NYSASBO).
